My strengths are thematic and structural recognition and developmental editing; zeroing in on a narrative's emotional preoccupation; and reading at the speed of light. If you’d just like to meet up for a 30 or 60-minute brainstorming session, I can do that too. I also work with writers in-progress with memoirs on an ongoing basis through brainstorming sessions and by offering written and verbal feedback on installments.

I especially love working on memoir book proposals and Modern Love essays. I tend to have availability for brainstorming sessions and editing essays and first fifty pages, even when my memoir manuscript developmental editing schedule is booked up.

2023 Flat-rate Editing Services

Besides coaching and editing offered on an ongoing and one-off basis, I also offer the following flat-rate services.

• Two rounds of edits on an essay you plan to submit to the New York Times’ Modern Love column. The first round will offer global suggestions; the second round will give detailed line edits. Submit essay of no more than 1700 words anytime via theo AT theonestor DOT com. $200.00

• A developmental edit on the first fifty pages of a memoir that will include a page of comments on larger issues such as structure, pacing, narrative structure, and theme as well as numerous margin comments and a 30-minute Zoom meeting with me to discuss path forward for revision and completion of manuscript. Email me to set up submission date (dates usually available with two weeks of inquiry): $600.00

• A close edit of a book proposal. Business pages only: $400. Business pages + three sample chapters (entire proposal): $900. Email me at theo@theonestor.com with description of your book project for available dates.

• A developmental edit for a memoir manuscripts up to 75k words. I’m currently taking memoir manuscript developmental edit reservations for June 2024 and beyond. If you are interested in setting up a deadline for submitting your manuscript, send me a one-paragraph description of your project and a sample chapter. If it seems like your project is a match for my services, I’ll send you some possible deadlines and—if we agree to work together—an invoice for a $200 deposit.
